Through a generous grant from Tucson Electric Power, we began an ambitious project to improve and restore trails within Sanctuary Cove which had been badly damaged by years of erosion.
The cost of obtaining a trained consultant to help us do the job property while maintaining safety and sustainability was our largest expense. Kind volunteers spent two separate days working their tails off on this extremely physical project. The result was restored and rerouted trails that have the best chance of providing a safe and enjoyable hiking experience into the foreseeable future.
We currently have a temporary trail map posted onsite near the Chapel Bridge. The final step in the process (which has been delayed by the COVID-19 Pandemic) will be to build a permanent information kiosk in our lower parking lot to help newcomers find their way around the property and to understand a little more about the story of Sanctuary Cove.
